Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

UPPER EAST SIDE—The Olympics tie-ins just keep coming. In honor of the games, Chinese luxury retailer Shanghai Tang has devised a complicated giveaway organized around the number eight: "On Friday at 8:08 a.m., 8 ladies wearing Shanghai Tang’s signature red silk Qi Pao dresses will pass out 888 red envelopes containing a lucky Chinese dollar on the corner of 57th and Madison Avenue. Your choice–keep the lucky buck, or bring it to the Shanghai Tang boutique at 600 Madison Avenue and see if you’ve won an $888 shopping spree." [Fashion Week Daily]

CLINTON HILL—We don't think the bodega will ever disappear completely from the Brooklyn landscape; even the most hardened gentrifiers need beer in the middle of the night. But we like the idea of the "lost bodega" series just launched at the blog Clinton Hill Chill, which is written by a fourth-generation Brooklynite. His history of the recently departed T & J Mini Market, on Waverly and Greene Avenues, includes a numbers game, a hit, and coming-of-age-moment, then wraps up with drinks in the restaurant that moved in when T & J moved out. LOWER EAST SIDE—Speaking of drinks, vintage store/boutique/bar The Dressing Room just turned one. Celebrate its birthday tonight with a D.J., snacks, and specials on beverages at 75 Orchard St between Broome and Grand. [New York Magazine]
