Park Slope might be a haven of progressive politics, but it's not exactly a haven of progressive footwear. Oak found this out the hard way this summer when they had to shutter their all-shoe outpost on President Street. Good thing, then, that Eric Shoes carries a selection ranging from the very proper to the very sensible— the Upper East Side mini-chain plans to open a store on the Slope's Seventh Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Streets, or so hears Gowanus Lounge, which has been obsessively watching that stretch of street all summer. The storefront used to house 7th Avenue Books, making Eric the "women's boutique" we heard about several weeks ago.
