Earlier today, we mentioned that the folks behind furniture retailer Design Within Reach had picked September 19th for the unveiling of their new concept store Tools for Living. The early rendering of the shop (interior images not available, sadly) is above.
The Soho outpost will be the first of its kind, to be followed by another Tools for Living opening in Santa Monica in October. The stores will be different from DWR's current locations in a few ways: first, they'll be offering different merchandise ("modernist versions of 700 domestic staples"), second, they'll be stepping away from the showroom model of selling (wherein customers come in, pick an item out and order it for delivery) for a regular old boutique shopping experience. The PRage describes TfL as a "modern general store;" it sounds to us like Moss and the MoMA store birthed their own version of Bed Bath & Beyond.
