Back in 2004, Kim's Video shuttered its original location on Avenue A, but now it seems like the cult movie rental chain will return to the vicinity. Jeremiah's Vanishing New York hears that Kim's is moving into the old Kurowycky butcher shop at 124 First Avenue. The site has been contentious: There was talk of an upscale restaurant called Penmanship coming in, but the community board didn't approve. Writes Jeremiah: "Thankfully, some folks from the neighboring International Bar have been working with Kim to salvage some of the marble and the porcelain subway tiles from Kurowycky." We're trying to picture a marble-lined Kim's video, but it's not really working.
