Think of it this way: The East Village isn't losing a comedy bar, just gaining another not-so-thrifty thrift store. The old Rififi, on 11th St near First Ave, is already just a shell of a space. "A worker on the scene said that it will become a Buffalo Exchange store, adding to the other trendy boutiques on the block. The store won’t be preserving the bar, John Varvatos style — it’s already gone." [NYM]
