After a quick spot check done mere moments ago, we can safely conclude that the new Whole Foods at 270 Greenwich Street is getting pounded on its first day of business. The residents and daytime workers of Tribeca are hungry, and apparently, lacking in good mid-day meal options. Lines snaked inside the store for the shawarma station while nannies, tie-wearing office drones and randoms swarmed the hot and cold food bars (try the seitan, it's delish). Sample vendors were also out in full force: in one go-round, we tried three different types of ceviche, cut fruit, pieces of organic baguette served with butter and olive oil, steak and fancy baby food. Walk around enough, and you won't even need to buy a lunch.
