Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Today marks the birth in beta of Women's Wear Daily's new 24/7 platform, which will launch officially August 4th. This isn't the first time WWD has tried to embrace the Internet in all its multimedia glory—in 2001 the newspaper planned a complex new website, but the project never got off the ground. This time around, the redesign includes a sleek new look, video footage, and comment sections. What prompted the makeover? In May, Portfolio speculated that it might be a response to challenges from more nimble sites like Style.com, Fashionweekdaily.com and New York magazine's The Cut.
