Above The Fray: James Jeans' Decent Denim Sale

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Right this minute, there are stacks and stacks of marked-down James Jeans sitting in a nice loft space in Hudson Square. The denim brand (of which we are fans) is having a sample sale through tomorrow evening at 500 Greenwich Street, and it is worth stopping by if you a) need a new pair and like their fit and/or b) wear a size 25.

There's a good selection of styles in for sizes 24 to 33 (and a few stacks for men), but the best deals fall to skinny folk. Sample pairs (size 25) are priced at $40 a pop, while those with larger waists must shell out $80 for their premium denim. The fitting room is communal, but also vast and equipped with a few mirrors and benches to make trying on easy. And helpful salesgirls were quick to find us sizes and styles while we were in there, trying stuff on. For those not in the market for jeans (why are you here again?) there is also a rack of $40 dresses and vests.
