WEST VILLAGE—According to a tipster, an angel of death has dragged his scythe all along the block of Eighth Avenue below 14th Street, murdering a number of stores. Well, the letter was a bit less dramatic than that: "Have you heard anything about what is happening on Eighth Ave on SW side of the street below 14th? The Steven Alan store, Sergio Davila, new fragrance/soap shop (can't remember name) and a little bakery have all closed for what initially looked like renovations but now it looks like maybe something new is going in there...I walk by these stores everyday and am very curious as to what is going on. Please let me know if you have any details." [RackedWire Inbox]

WEST VILLAGE—The Bleecker Street Alexis Bittar boutique we've been obsessing over for months will be opening soon—very soon!—according to a commenter who writes, "Opening next week!" Prepare yourselves for the Lucite onslaught. [Racked Comments]
