A story about the lousy condition of an historic building on the Whole Foods property in Gowanus produced a statement from a spokesman for the retailer with a tantalizing punchline about the much-delayed store: "...We expect that any work that may be required to be undertaken on the building by Whole Foods Market as part of our contract of sale will be done in conjunction with the construction of our new Brooklyn store, the updated details of which we hope to announce in the near future."
