Ikea, the retail chain that will certainly change the face of sleepy Red Hook, is opening in less than a day. As fans camp out underneath the store in wait, and locals worry for the future of their neighborhood, The Life Vicarious scribe Adam Robb, who's fifth in line, is blogging for Racked from the scene.

11:03am: NYPD has arrived to set up for tomorrow.

3:46pm: More last-minute prep: Delivery of hydraulic lifts bring an early end to an afternoon nap in our tent.

3:47pm: A children's choir is getting a preview of the new Ikea. They just performed a rousing rendition of America the Beautiful, including flutists.

4:41pm: We won two rounds of lateday hangman for two polyester Irma blankets!
