Ikea Camper's Diary: Pizza Controversy

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Ikea, the retail chain that will certainly change the face of sleepy Red Hook, is opening in two day's time. As fans camp out underneath the store in wait, The Life Vicarious scribe Adam Robb, who's fifth in line, is blogging for Racked from the scene.

Since we last checked in with Adam and the campers at Ikea Red Hook, the scene has heated up slightly. A few more people are on line, and new press outlets are showing up. Adam: Southbrooklyn.com just arrived hot on the heels of Post reporter Andrea Peyser. The press is giving Ikea media relations staffers something to do other than to tell campers to bother someone else with their problems. They [media relations] just want to eat the pizza they had delivered! And now they're being told by their bosses to take it inside out of the view of the campers. Drama.
