LeNell's New Hook Space Gone: Owner 'Broken'

We all knew that Red Hook fixture LeNell's was in trouble when the news broke last August that the liquor store had lost its lease. At that point, owner Tonya "LeNell" Smothers hadn't given up hope, telling reporters that she'd look beyond Red Hook, perhaps even to Manhattan, to find a new space. But things have apparently taken a turn for the worse. We'll toss to our compatriots at Eater for the play-by-play: "Sad to say that the space that we had a draft lease for fell through this week.
