Not as chaotic as the earlier Calypso event, but a strong sale in its own right, the Soundgirl and Shoes for Lovely People sample sale on Broadway in Midtown is worth a look if you're in the area. Let's start with the footwear: There was a stellar selection of excess Shoes for Lovely People stock...if you have small feet. We spotted mostly sevens and sixes, and adorable flats, wedges, pumps, and heels in the latter size were marked only $30. Shoes are also available in sizes 8, 9, and 10, but the selection is limited and not quite as cute as the small sizes. A rack of Lovely People summer dresses is selling for $40 a piece; the patterns are bright and youthful and they come in tank and spaghetti strap styles.
The Soundgirl pieces on site are priced to move. Basic cotton tops in various designs are selling for $5-10, jeans for $15, and dresses for $15. This isn't clothing that you'd wear to, say, the Philharmonic, but if you're on a budget and yearning to scratch that shopping itch, you should drop by.
