Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

1) Financial District: We heard a rumor that Apple was interested in opening a FiDi outpost. And then, that news was confirmed. Brace, downtowners, brace.

2) Gramercy: Gap rolled out their second group of Gap Design Editions. The white shirts didn't exactly fly off shelves, but sales were brisk enough.

3) Red Hook: Ikea finally set a date for it's Red Hook outpost. June 18th's the magic day.

4) Soho: Hawaii-based uber-hip boutique Aloha Rag debuted in Hudson Square, right next to Don Hill's.

5) Midtown: Rummagers hit bulk clothing store By The Pound hard on its opening day.
