While many customers—and former vendors—were surprised by PIR Cosmetics' hasty Nolita departure, Parisian accessories brand Jamin Puech was quick to capture the corner store at 14 Prince Street. The French designers moved their decadent bags, clutches, and accessories a bit south of their old space on Elizabeth (between Houston and Prince Streets) and unveiled the relocated shop this weekend. The new store is triple the size of the Elizabeth Street boutique, and contains Parisian antique furniture in addition to spectacular, handcrafted bags. Although the spacious new digs enable Jamin Puech shoppers to mosey around and people-watch the crowds waiting at Cafe Habana across the street, it lacks the je ne sais quoi of the diminutive original storefront.
