Poor Long Island City. The neighborhood that could still doesn't have a decent supermarket, and won't be getting that Starbucks store that was promised back in July. According to a Racked source, the coffee chain has reneged on its deal with Rockrose: "They had a sweetheart deal with Rockrose in the new East Coast towers and they bailed on it [no reason]. I would say their expansion plans in the outer boroughs is very limited at best. The Jackson Heights deal must have squeaked by their axe." We hate to ask, but: Is LIC not ready for Starbucks? An on-the-ground assessment of the neighborhood may just be in order...
