We knew we smelled a Yohji party in the works yesterday. Sure enough, last night Japanese avant-garde designer Yohji Yamamoto celebrated the grand openings of his namesake flagship and Y-3 sportswear stores—right in the middle of Fashion Week (read: tipsy fashionistas). Tinted Escalades idled on Gansevoort Street while partygoers popped in to fete the designer's long-awaited retail duo. We hope nobody smudged those bright white signature Yohji tanks after nibbling hors d'oeuvres in the flagship courtyard! But let's face it, (a) this is MePa and (b) they probably did.
