DelayWatch: Waiting for Vera Wang in Soho

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

It feels like ages since designer Vera Wang, known best for her conquest of the bridal gown market, announced new store opening plans in Soho. Racked recently stopped by Mercer Street to investigate its progress since our first glimpse back in August. Unfortunately, papered windows continue to prevent peeking. A call into the company verified that the new shop would not be opening until "spring" with no specific date set. The store will carry Vera's ready-to-wear and (more affordable) Lavender lines. While we are disappointed by the ongoing wait, Bon Jovi lives above the space and exited the building at the exact moment we snapped this photo. Whoaaa Ohh! A minor consolation.
