Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Another day, another update on the Upper East Side designer sweets emporium, Dylan's. The covering on the third floor has been removed, and so we catch our very first glimpses of the expanded store, which will include a new dessert cafe and ice cream bar. (Interlude: Only someone with Ralph Lauren's branding genes would think to put an alternate sit-down sugar entry in spitting distance of Serendipity.) Next up, a new staircase and some jiggering of internal space to allow for a revamp on the original Dylan's footprint. In closing today, we'll send you off as the lovely Dylan always does: May each step you take be sweet.
