It might have been a PR boon, but did Starbucks's absurd barista training stunt actually yield customers better coffee this morning? And what's of the Dunkin' Donuts reactionary freebie stunt? From Chicago blog The Stew: "So I stopped in at my local Starbucks this morning and asked for an espresso, and within 30 seconds it was on the counter with a smile. I think it's the first time I have not had to wait for an espresso drink at the place--ever. Is that improvement? Kind of, I guess...Meanwhile, Dunkin Donuts reports that it gave out 101,250 free lattes at its 450 Chicagoland stores." [The Stew]
