Staple for Payless

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Payless announced that Jeff Staple, the dude behind Reed Space and many other collaborations, will design Airwalk collections for them next year. "Each season twelve original street and skate styles will be introduced. 'This alliance fits the brand’s heritage and, more importantly, helps us continue to innovate and build the Airwalk brand with our target consumer.' No word from Staple on the project." The $50 Airwalks, expensive for Payless and for a brand everyone stopped caring about ten years ago, will be released at and in over 400 stores in Fall 2009. [We Are The Market]
