Aside from sales and the usual holiday shopping frenzy, Saturday will see two intriguing retail events, one uptown and one downtown:
Uptown: In the lower level retail concourse of The Plaza Hotel at Fifth Avenue and Central Park South, Santa is scheduled to make an appearance from 10am—4:30pm for free photo ops. This will probably be the only time until next Christmas when The Plaza will gladly welcome screaming children and then give them something gratis. We say milk it.
Downtown:Meanwhile in the West Village, Cynthia Rowley on Bleecker Street will host free Tarot readings from 3—6pm. Although this is a gimmicky way to attract potential customers, we're just happy it's not holiday-themed. If sales go through the basement after Christmas, we may see these random retail parties continue
