Today's Post reports that 92% of the retail space under the Plaza Hotel has been leased. But are shoppers going to be as enthusiastic? This Curbed commenter doesn't sound convinced. "It's very strange. A warren of tiny high-end retail shops (cashmere, ties, etc.) with lots of beige stone everywhere. The hotel guests will definitely check it out, but obviously the hope is that the folks who shop at Bergdorf Goodman and the Apple Store will also shop in a basement mall at the Plaza. Stranger things have happened, but it didn't strike me as a project without risk. But then I have an aversion to both basements and malls, so who am I to judge?" [NYP; Curbed Comments]
