RackedWire: Babeland Celebrates Renovations on the LES; DVF Launches a New Blog

New, 1 comment

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

THE LOWER EAST SIDE—From 6pm to 10pm tonight, celebrate the re-opening of seminal L.E.S. sex toy shop Babeland. The store now has branches in Soho and Park Slope, but it first opened at 94 Rivington Street ten years ago, so the party is as much for their anniversary as it is for the renovation. The first fifty guests get a free "silver bullet," and everyone gets free vodka martinis. [Racked Inbox]

THE INTERNET—Diane Von Furstenberg just launched a blog! We would be really happy if it were a secret blog (maybe thewrap.tumblr.com?) where Diane herself posted personal cat pics and Jon Hamm fan fiction, but we'll take what we can get. So far, DVF bloggers have posted about yellow resortwear, Obama's win, and the Standard Hotel, which is opening near their offices in the Meatpacking District. It's meant to be for people who work inside the company, but if you're a big DVF follower, it should become a good way to get brand news directly from the source. [DVF]
