Above the Fray: Kid Robot and Gwen Stefani Galore

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

For today, which seems to be quite the "Above the Fray" day, we checked out that magical little sample sale spot next to the Metropolitan Pavilion on West 18th Street in Chelsea. Officially a rotating sale hosted by Savvy & Co., the space hosts almost bi-weekly events, with these last two days being a dumping ground for bargain deals on Gwen Stefani's LAMB and Harajuku Lovers purses, as well as Kid Robot bags and Jill Stuart.

While these prices (max $195 for the nicest bag and $10 for Harajuku cosmetic cases) beat those of Loehmann's and Century 21, where we've totally seen the merchandise before, it's not exactly a classy sale. A back room has tables piled high with the bright, cutesy prints of Harajuku Lovers and elsewhere it's Kid Robot as far as the eye can see. The good news is, all of that Kid Robot is buy-one-get-one-free, which means toy-covered bags originally marked at $200 are now $35. If that's enough motivation to get you out Christmas shopping for cousins there, then hurry because today they'll be closing at 8pm.
