Despite all of the empty retail space available around the city, the Meatpacking is still so in demand that they continue to carve new stores out of old warehouses. This is the case with what will be the city's second Tory Burch store, a 1,600-square-foot nugget of space on Washington and Little West 12th Street, directly in the shadow of The Standard Hotel.
While it's on schedule to debut alongside neighbor Zadig & Voltaire in December, Tory's MePa arrival has us worried for Scoop. Every time we walk up "Scoop Street," or the line of stores that make up Scoop's monopoly of a block on Washington, we spot shelves lined with Tory Burch merch; it is a staple label for them. So will they take a hit or cut back on selection now that Tory herself has moved in? We'll see in a month's time, but until then there's always the tons of Tory's signature flats on deep sale at Century 21. Merry Christmas.
