In the Window: McQueen Brings Back the Union Jack

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

In the window of Alexander McQueen's MePa store at 417 West 14th Street, we see his explosion of personal patriotism in everything from knitted throws to the $1,445 Union Jack Skull Clutch. There seem to be about 30 of those clutches spilling from the rim of the uber-hip chair, totaling $43,350 for that portion of the display alone.

Blinded by pricetags? We won't even touch on the clothing, because we're pretty sure no one wants to be seen wearing sequin skinny pants in a recession. Nonetheless, McQueen's stuff is very covetable; let this serve to whet your appetite for his spring collaboration with Target.
