In case you haven't heard, Bleecker Street is the new Madison Avenue is the new Bleecker Street. Recently a rash of new boutiques have breathed some renewed life into the blustery old shopping corridor up on Madison, including Lilly Pulitzer, J.Crew Women's Collection and a whole slew of jewelry stores. Even shoe slingers Cesare Paciotti and Stuart Weitzman gave their boutiques a fresh coat of paint this season.
So it comes as no surprise that Nanette Lepore, queen of pretty pinafores, will expand her New York store presence in spring, going uptown from Broome in Soho to Madison Avenue and East 75th Street. This will raise her international store tally to a healthy ten and align her with the heavy-hitters of the UES. Now to actually get some shoppers up there...
