This weekend, the Times devoted 1200 words to parsing the term "recessionista." Conclusion? Despite the fact that the fashion world has officially recognized that we're in recession for, like, six weeks already, people haven't entirely renounced consumerism. "It is more lighthearted to say 'I am the Recessionista, and I don't really go for that,' instead of saying 'I can't afford that or I don't want to spend the money,'" says the proprietress of the Recessionista blog. "The 'ista' on the end there, it gives it a little touch of the bling, I think." [NYT]
