Get your art deco antiques and dusty chandeliers at Soho's Home Design Center's going-out-of-business sale. Like the antique stores of the West Village, the Home Design Center has been squeezed out by high rent and the block's focus on luxe tenants like neighbors Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti, Sportmax, Aveda and Pharrell's new BBC/ Ice Cream shop.
Even though the Home Design Center isn't a veteran to the area (prior tenants of the space have been Rizzoli and Comme des Garcons Shirt), its departure means West Broadway will see a saturation of pricey clothing boutiques geared at tourists, when we already have that on almost every other Soho street. No word yet on who'll be taking it over, but how funny would it be to see Stüssy move in here right next to Billionaire Boys Club? We can only dream.
