RackedWire: Sale at Muji, Crowds At McCartney

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

SOHO—Our favorite no brand, quality goods store is having their first sale. Yes, that'd be the Muji on Broadway we're referring to. According to the press release that landed in the Racked Inbox, they'll be taking 30% off seasonal clothing and accessories. The release also contained this nugget of info: "We apologize that our online store have not launched at this moment. We are in process of developing online store at MUJI USA. We deeply appreciate your patience." There is hope! [RackedWire]

MEPA—A Racked source checks in from the scene at Stella McCartney's friends-and-family sale at the 14th Street store, writing: "Huge sale at Stella McCartney, 60% off. Pretty busy. The line to pay was about two hours long. Either they are incredibly lame or only one person was working the register. Granted it is 60% off, but a $1600 jacket is not a big bargain at $640. Don't you think for $640 some customer service would be essential? Guess not." The sale ended today, unfortunately, so there aren't any more sort-of bargains to be had. [RackedWire Inbox]
