Rest easy, Brooklynites: Though it appears that the store is hosting a going-out-of-business sale, West Elm in Dumbo is staying put for now. Staff is just clearing out merchandise for a full remodel. A tipster writes, "They're just remodeling. Sales at that store have shot upwards in the last couple years." Per a commenter, we hear that the sign in the shop's window puts the reopening at January 13th. Since the Dumbo building that houses West Elm's store also houses their offices (and the store's probably not paying much rent at this location, as they were among the first retailers in the hood), it looks like they won't be shuttering unless the entire company goes under.
