WEST VILLAGE—A Racked informant writes: "What is Briese? Any idea? On west side highway around Charles/Christopher sts. Oversized "arty" black and white full frontal photo of topless woman covers the door. Wouldn't fly as mag advertisement or billboard. And right at street level. Just curious if you guys had seen it. Sign next door says 401 projects. It's interesting because there's a very explicit picture used to sell something other than sex right nearby anyway all the west 10th sex shops and west side highway gentlemen's clubs which can't be as explicit." Um, does anyone have a photo they could send over? Some Racked Staffers are eager to, ah, examine this ad. [RackedWire Inbox]
DUMBO—A Brooklyn-based tipster sends a photo of the shuttered West Elm store at 75 Front Street, which is, let us reiterate, closed for renovations. January 13th can't come soon enough! [RackedWire]
SOHO—The newish hickey store at 96 Grand Street between Greene and Mercer Streets, crippled last week thanks to a ceiling collapse, is still closed. A tipster: "The sign on the door says something like 'Due to circumstances beyond our control, Hickey is closed.' Peering through the windows, the merchandise is pretty much cleared out." According to sources at the company, the store will be reopening in "a few weeks." [RackedWire Inbox]
