The much-moaned-about, overly-cheery Toys "R" Us that appeared in the old Tower Records space on East 4th Street is kaput. It's our understanding that the shop was erected for a few months while the storefront's owner, Vornado, searched for a megatenant who'd need 36,000 square feet of retail space. Workers were seen dismantling window displays this weekend, so perhaps someone bit?
