Pariero New York opened two months ago between West 10th and Christopher Streets to 'sell high fashion clothing and accessories for pets.' Really. The store is an offshoot of the Japanese company, Paris Erotica, which expanded to petwear after success in women's clothing. Their New York location sells outerwear, sweaters, tees, dresses(!), bedding, carriers, toys, accessories and other canine accoutrement for the 'petite and medium-sized' dog set. The prices are as far-flung as the Metallic Windbreakers for Chihuahuas that they carry, with many pieces costing well over $100. In addition to their pet clothing, Pariero has an on-site spa offering grooming and bathing services which range from the standard (bathing, clipping) to the not-so-standard (pawdicures and bikini shaves). Who knew that dogs and Playboy models required the same beauty treatments?
