1) Upper East Side: Oh noooo! The Second Ave location of boutique chainlet Pookie & Sebastian (you know, knockoff central) is closing up shop. But for UES girls who enjoy wearing halter tops and mini-dresses, all hope is not lost. The store is simply moving a block over to Third Avenue. [78thand2nd]
2) Chelsea: Yet another bookstore is closing. The last day of business for Librería Lectorum, a Spanish-language bookstore located on 14th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, will be this Saturday September 29th. The retailer was forced to shutter due to rent increases. Though the company has stated that it has not given up on finding retail space elsewhere, the situation is looking pretty grim. A very small consolation: After the place closes up shop, inventory will be transferred to the web. [NY Times]
