The final nail in the coffin for Barnes & Noble's Chelsea location has to be this press release we just received from spotlight-loving retail real estate mastermind Faith Hope Consolo:
The renowned leasing team of Faith Hope Consolo, Chairman, and Joseph A. Aquino, Executive Vice President, of Prudential Douglas Elliman’s Retail Leasing and Sales Division, has been named exclusive agent for the grand retail space at 675 Sixth Avenue, which takes up the entire block from 21st to 22nd Streets and is currently occupied by a national bookstore. The 41,700 square foot space is located within a stunning pre-war building along the legendary Sixth Avenue expanse known as “Ladies’ Mile,” for its department stores and specialty shops. In fact, this building was one of New York’s first department stores with automatic elevators. To the employees of Barnes & Noble Sixth Ave: if you haven't found another job yet, this would be a good time to start looking.
