WEST VILLAGE—A tipster emails with the sad news that petite Perry Street boutique Camp is closing: "Camp, a cute store on Perry between Hudson and Greenwich will close in the next month or so as I was told that the landlord had raised the rent to $12,000 a month." [RackedWire Inbox]
EAST VILLAGE—As reported by Crain's, Australian candle purveyor Iron Fairies is planting an outpost in the East Village. Apparently, they're gunning for a September opening, as a Racked source writes: "below the david z store on st marks is going to be some Australian candle store called iron fairies (no fooling). They specialize in soy based wax candles. They are working 7 days a week and may be ready to open before david z. what a thrilling race." According to Crain's, the shop will also sell fairy figurines. Sounds excellent. [RackedWire Inbox]
