Could it be true? Is Marc Jacobs, the king of Bleecker Street retail, interested in slumming it on the LES? Above, a photo of the storefront on the northeast corner of Ludlow and Rivington Streets, the space that we believed would be opening soon as a Steve Madden. But today, this note floats into the inbox from a tipster: "Heard a rumor that there's about to be a marc jacobs store on the northeast corner of rivington and ludlow. It used to be the leasing office for some horrible condo development on attorney street. And apparently renting for 20k a month. If that happens to be true, say goodbye to every business currently on that block when all the rents go up proportionately." We've been inside both Marc Jacobs and Steve Madden stores, and we have to say, this interior looks like neither. But, we've heard from so many sources that it'll be a Steve Madden that we're still hedging our bets on the shoe man opening at 100 Rivington.
