Since August is a slow news month, it's a great time to reflect upon the myriad of stores slated to open this fall or early next year. One of the biggest New York City openings of 2008 will, no doubt, be the Red Hook Ikea store, which will be up and running sometime in the spring. We haven't been monitoring the construction process too closely (unlike our brother site Curbed), but with the opening finally on the not-too-distant horizon, we thought we'd bring you some of the most beautiful photos of the site yet. Above, a shot of green rebar caps, which protect against impalement injuries. Keep it safe, kids.
