A fresh crop of shops opening round the city isn't the only thing to look forward to this fall. On the horizon are a host of designer/mass retailer collaborations. Set to debut in less than two weeks are two of the most exciting guest designer clothing lines of the year: Simply Vera for Kohl's on September 9th and Black Fleece for Brooks Brothers on September 10th. Today, DNR takes a look at Thom Browne's effort. Though Black Fleece will feature clothing for men and women, Browne is known for his menswear, and much of the excitement swirling around the collection's launch can be attributed to the designer's cache with well-dressed men. Prices for suits will range from $2,700 to $2,900. Brooks Brothers held a trunk show/preview of the collection for customers last week, and the company was pleased with the turnout. From the piece in DNR, "[A Brooks Brothers exec] noted that the 'reaction to the fit was very positive.' Browne is known for his cropped pants and slender silhouette, but the Black Fleece line has unfinished trousers. 'There was a high degree of curiosity about it, but customers were happy that they were able to have the trousers cut to any length they chose.'" Kohl's is gearing up for the Simply Vera launch by updating its website (which is currently down), as well as adding new fixturing throughout stores. Obviously, both retailers are hoping to make loads and loads of money off of these guest designers. We're pretty sure they'll succeed.
