Rackage: Mollusk

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Rackage is a look inside recently-opened stores around town. Today, we peek inside Williamsburg surfboard shop Mollusk.

As we understand it, the only decent place to surf in NYC is the Far Rockaways. That hasn't deterred the folks behind Mollusk, a San Francisco-based shop that recently opened an outpost in Williamsburg. The specialty here is the array of glossy, colorful hand-shaped boards ("logs," "thrusters" and other interestingly-named types are available), though there's also a selection of t-shirts and, for those braving the surf in less temperate months, wet suits. For more on the shop, head to Brooklyn Based, Thrillist, and the store's blog Shipworm and Gribble.
