It's going to be a cruel, cruel summer for Cobble Hill ice cream lovers. The Ben & Jerry's on Atlantic Avenue near Court Street has closed down for good. The store had falsely stated, via a sign on the window (pictured above), that it was "Closed for renovations," but truth of the place's permanent shuttering came out in an article in The Brooklyn Paper this morning. The shop may be replaced by another ice cream parlor, Uncle Louie G’s, but a lease has not yet been signed. A small consolation: if you really need a cone, the Tasti D-Lite on Court between Congress and Wyckoff has managed to hang on.
