Though Lower East Side institution Gertel's Bakery closed this past Friday, the place's baked goods have not completely disappeared from the neighborhood. As seen last night, at Flicker's Cafe, a small coffee shop right around the corner on Essex Street between Hester and Grand Streets, you can nosh on a pastry from Gertel's while sipping on a iced green tea, fruit smoothie, espresso or ginger lemonade. How nice.
