Counterfeat: reporting on fakes, forgeries and knockoffs at stores around the city. Now, to Harlem.
Once upon a time, not too long ago, we purchased a pack of batteries at our corner bodega. Upon returning home, we opened the packaging and found one battery burst and the others completely dead. The moral of the story: you can't trust the goods at bodegas. We were reminded of this upon reading a post about Harlem deli owners busted for selling fake Trojan Magnum condoms. According to an investigative MY9 News video, you can tell the fake jimmy hats from their smaller size, sweeter smell and cheap packaging. How's that Cindy Adams tagline go? Only in New York, kids, only in New York.
