Storecasting: Vivienne Tam

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Here, a shot of the soon-to-open Vivienne Tam boutique at Andre Balazs' glassy 40 Mercer Street at Grand. A tipster, who sent the image, writes, "They were putting up some VT signage in the Grand Street windows on Friday 5/25..." Tam is known for her Asian-inspired designs; collections often include embroidered kimonos alongside chic, modern separates. The 2,200-square-foot Mercer Street space, slated to open sometime this summer, will be the fashion designer's second go at a brick-and-mortar retail space in NYC—the first, located at 99 Greene Street, closed over a year ago. For those following bank developments: Tam's neighbor at 40 Mercer is a shiny, newish Wachovia outpost.
