Mo' Banks: Valley National, Chase

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Yes, it's time again for a little thing called Mo' Banks, in which we profile new cash centers around town. If you've spotted another bank opening, let us know.

1) Bay Ridge: Griswold’s, the 39-year-old Bay Ridge pub, is closing. The space's new tenant? None other than Valley National Bank. The bank wants to gut the interior of the space, therefore Griswold’s owners are selling off everything inside—from the art on the walls to the 120-year-old wood bar. [Courier-Life]

2) Park Slope: A development on Fifth Avenue in the Slope, from a reader, "Walking down 5th Avenue in Park Slope and I saw through the window of the storefront on the north-west corner of 5th Avenue and Lincoln/DeGraw Pl that the drawing taped to the wall had a big Chase Bank logo on the title block. Looks like a little competition for the Commerce Bank a few blocks farther down." [Racked Inbox]
