Girlshop.com Says Goodbye

Last night, people on the email list for Girlshop.com, the online retailer that folded in early April, were sent a strange note. It was, in part, an official goodbye from Girlshop, but more so was a shill for Net-A-Porter, a higher-end shopping site.

As you may have heard, after a nine year run as one of the hippest online fashion destinations, Girlshop.com is sadly closing down. It’s been Girlshop’s pleasure and passion to provide you with cutting edge and coveted fashion over the years. And now, stylish girls, Girlshop leaves you in good hands with an introduction to one of its favorite shopping sites, NET-A-PORTER.COM.
What a awkward transition sentence. It was public knowledge that Girlshop's owners were in debt (rumors of bankruptcy were also circulating). Given this move, we assume they sold their domain name and their email list to Net-A-Porter to recoup some of their losses.
