Remember that rumor about the Brooklyn Brewery moving to Red Hook? Well, looks like another area is under consideration for the Brewery's new home: Gowanus. According to today's Observer piece, Brooklyn Brewery C.E.O. Steve Hindy already has a specific plot of land in mind. "The site of a demolished gas plant, the fenced-off eight-acre expanse of rubble, strewn with old tires and bundles of dumped newspapers, is overgrown with weeds and shrubs that somehow flourish in soil contaminated with coal tar and cyanide." Yep, that's Gowanus. Apparently, the site in Red Hook is more desirable (less trashy, more scenic), but currently unavailable.
